God is good. I know it’s true. I’ve seen it first-hand.
From physical healing to spiritual awakening, God is clearly in the restoration business. He is always moving – even when we can’t see Him in the moment. I have seen such strong evidence of His intervention in my life that I could never deny Him.
But for several months, the lens through which I see God has been distorted by my pride, impatience and control-freak nature.
I’ve forgotten His promises. I’ve taken on an embarrassing “experiential belief system” where I grow impatient if God doesn’t let me in on what He is up to. All too often, I put words in God’s mouth — growing angry over unfulfilled promises He never actually made.
After a particularly challenging October – one filled with a familiar childlike angst toward God – I’m being called to “remember again” ways in which God has proven Himself faithful. Times when He showed up in glory and stopped me in my tracks.
November is a new month with a renewed outlook what it really means to be thankful. Thanksgiving Day seems lost in a sea of Halloween and Christmas nonsense, so I’m keeping a journal on thankfulness all month using one of my favorite iPhone apps – the Gratitude Journal.
Here’s my screenshot thankfulness lineup for today:
God’s promises ring true… and this one is just what I needed today:
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:20
As if that’s not enough…
Friends, we have much to be thankful for!
