Hi! I’m Mollie!
I’ve answered some questions that you may have. Hopefully this will help us get to know each other a little better!
Why do you want to do this?
I’ve always been passionate about fasting during Lent. Finding a new vice to “give up” each year became a ritual (my sister has been a continuous witness and can relay some stories). Through the years, I lost sight of the reason for the fast. It became a personal challenge instead of a journey. I think that following the Daniel Plan during Lent will ground me again, as I believe the five core essentials – faith, food, fitness, focus, friends – encompass the journey and ideal process of a Lent fast, and foremost an overall healthy, balanced lifestyle.
How did you find out about it?
I really wish that I had a wonderful story that this was a huge sign from God, but unfortunately, I don’t. You’ll have to visit “Meet Brit” to hear one. The Plan had been nagging at Brit for a while and she explained it to me. She also had the idea for the blog to record our journey and was looking for a partner. She was pretty excited about the idea, and not that I was hesitant, but regardless her excitement was contagious. We’ve never collaborated, and wow, it’s already been an amazing experience. I’ve never worked that well with someone instantly. Even though the story of how I discovered the Daniel Plan isn’t fascinating, I am certain that it is no mistake that we are in this together.
Which aspects of the Daniel Plan Essentials resonate most with you?
Food, fitness, and friends definitely speak to me, as these essentials are what I already keep close to me in my daily life, which is why I need to concentrate on faith and focus. I definitely need to grow in these areas and I’m looking forward to a more fulfilling future.
What are your goals?
My primary goal is balance. It’s something that I strongly desire, yet have never felt that I’ve achieved. Balance. I continually struggle.
I realize that I need to concentrate on faith and focus, the two areas that I feel that I need the most work.
Faith – Daily devotions and setting time aside for God. Engage more.
Focus – Practice yoga on a regular schedule.
The remaining three elements are equally important. These need minimally maintenance, but optimally growth.
Food – I’m incredibly excited to try a few new recipes using quinoa and lentils, two ingredients that I currently rarely use. I also have a few other new dishes that I can’t wait to taste.
Fitness – Run again 3 times/week (weather permitting) and train for a 5K in May.
Friends…well, I’m curious and excited to see who I meet through this blog and along the way, but I really can’t wait to see the affect that these 40 days have on my relationship with Brit.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. I hope that you enjoy our journey! Living Daniel strong.
