This weekend was… you guessed it. Busy. But amidst the hustle and bustle of work, home, and other competing responsibilities, our family spent some time exploring.
Mike and I have always dreamed of finding a little piece of land in the country to build a house — and a different kind of life — upon. A life of simplicity and quiet — full of deer, crickets, gardens, and if Mike has it his way, chickens… (YUCK!). We crave a peaceful retreat, basking in the the utter absence of hectic city life.
Because of the lifestyles we’ve chosen and the careers we lead, moving to the mountains out west isn’t an option right now. But our life in small-town colonial Mount Vernon, Ohio is still too urban for our taste.
This weekend, we began exploring some wide-open and wooded spaces to build the home — and life — we’ve always wanted.
We not only kicked up our Fitness Essential a notch (my Jawbone says I added 6,400 extra steps that day!) — we spent time hiking, laughing, and dreaming big as a family.
The next step isn’t entirely clear. But the future feels very real now.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
