What a gift. Today has been phenomenal. Productive and restful, motivating and relaxing, with life-giving fellowship and even a few precious moments of solitude.
Today was what I think is supposed to be that Sabbath rest I’ve been working through lately. Resting and abiding can come alongside a packed schedule. I have been running since I opened my eyes this morning, and I spent restful, quality time with the best people in the world – my family.
This Daniel Plan journey has blessed me beyond measure over the last 18 days. My entire immediate family has been going through some version of the Daniel Plan with me, and each are champions in their own Essentials.
My dad is without question my Faith Essential connection, always ready for a theological discussion or fresh spiritual challenge. My sister, Janea is pulling double duty with Food and Friends – she is just the best. My mom has taken on an invigorated interest in Fitness and healthy eating, and we’re having a blast talking through our goals and celebrating each other. And my beloved, Mike, is, as always, my centering point of Focus in this journey and our lifelong journey together.
Tonight we celebrated March birthdays for Janea, Mike and Mom with a beautiful Daniel-Plan friendly dinner spread that rivaled any gathering ever before it.
Janea, Mom and I even celebrated our respective and collective journeys with matching Jawbone UP24 fitness bracelets.
Mike is not into that kind of thing, and received the gift of a heavy bag to put in his Man Room for throwing punches. Girls do jewelry, boys do fighting. Whatever.
One thing is for sure – we are all progressing. We’re healthier in mind, body and spirit because of the journey we’re taking together.
Best. Family Ever.
