God is so good to me. Each day, He delights me with little gifts to show me more about who He really is. I’m so excited to share today’s gift with you.
Two of my very favorites, Bono (lead singer of the iconic band, U2) and Eugene Peterson (clergyman, scholar, poet and author of The Message translation of The Bible), got together over coffee to talk about the Psalms.
U2 has been my favorite band since age 11 — most who know me well know this. I loved Bono before everyone else loved Bono. 🙂
And Eugene Peterson’s writings have shaped my faith and understanding of the nature of God into adulthood.
I admit, the “celebrity” factor drew me in — but the conversation that ensued here spoke so deeply to my heart.
God is truly for us — ALL of us — as evidenced here in the experiences and interpretations of these two very different men of faith.
Instead of allowing their differences to be a generational or denominational divide, they sought to find the unifying similarities that would bring them together in such a meaningful and unexpected way.
I know we’re all busy — but this is worth your 20 minutes.
My personal fave? At 11:25, Bono spontaneously sings “The Lord is My Shepherd.”
