Taming Lions music was privileged to celebrate the life of AJ (Ashton Jacob) Waters — beloved nephew of our drummer Scott Waters. AJ was tragically taken from this world on March 12, 2014 — today would have been his 13th birthday.
Friends from the Vineyard Church of Knox County, the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon, and the community at large gathered at Memorial Park for an inaugural 5K run and cookout in honor of AJ’s birthday.
I never knew AJ in this life — but his family shared that he loved fitness, music, the color purple, blue gatorade, the Army and spending time with friends and family. Sounds like my kind of kid.
Several band members were able to run the 5K race before leading worship. Photos of AJ’s life spanned the Kokosing Gap Trail, capturing our hearts and making us highly aware of God’s presence.
Taming Lions music was asked to minister to a wonderful group of people on this special day — but truly, we were the ones ministered to.
We witnessed family, friends and community members worshipping publicly and thanking God for His gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Living in this truth, we know that one day soon we will be with AJ in glory.
We were blessed beyond measure to be a part of AJ’s special day. Happy birthday, kiddo.
