One of the greatest spiritual battles we face is addiction. And the best thing we as believers can do is to stop whispering about it — and to stand up and face it, head on.
The event caught state-wide attention and raised more than $11,000 in its first run, not including local sponsorships.
We came. We worshiped. We prayed for healing, county-, state-, country- and worldwide. And we appropriately faded into the background as worshiping artists, as the runners, walkers and faithful organizers of this event took center stage to honor lives lost.
This is my favorite picture from the final hours of the event:
In your mighty name, we pray for mercy, O God. Rescue and save your people!
Heads up: If you or someone you know struggle with addiction, Celebrate Recovery is coming to the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon, Ohio — Friday nights starting Sept. 11, 2015. Healing is near — more to come!
